Folks, let me give you a game-time update. We are early in the 4th Quarter of the Super Bowl, and we’ve got ourselves a tie ball game. We have the ball and it is up to us to close this thing out with a win.

That’s the simple truth. In both the Presidential race and in the U.S. Senate race we are knotted up heading into the home stretch. Only thing is — this isn’t a game, the future of our Commonwealth and of the greatest country in the history of the world is in our hands and we need to step it up for the last month of the campaign.

The good news? We have the biggest and the best grassroots team we’ve ever had before and we are driving down the field. Let me share a few game-stats to explain why I feel this way:

3.5 Million voter contacts, and closing in on 4

When we share how many voter contacts – 3.5 million so far and counting – we have made in this campaign, some simply can’t believe the productivity our grassroots army has had. Chairman Mullins recently told Governor Haley Barbour (who is no political novice), and his jaw hit the floor.

The reason everyone is so shocked is pretty simple. Compared to this point in the 2008 cycle, our volunteers in Virginia have made 9 times more phone calls and 12 times more door knocks. When we set out to build the largest grassroots army in the history of Virginia politics, we weren’t telling tales and we weren’t messing around.

We aren’t stopping. We are going to continue to make jaws drop, because we are well on our way to 4 million contacts.

And now, at last we have the signs and collateral we’ve all been wanting – in. We just shipped a large number of signs and stickers to every Victory office in the state and more will be delivered later this week. Please make sure you stop by the office nearest you and pick up a Romney/Ryan sign for your yard… and for your neighbor’s yard too! This weekend will mark our largest Super Saturday of the election year.

It’s an event so big that it deserves it’s own name and it’s own contest. That is why we are making October 6th our Victory Chairman’s Awards Super Saturday!

RGIII inspired so many of us last week the way he coolly and confidently marched the ‘Skins down the field with the game on the line. And that’s exactly what we, here in Virginia, are being asked to do for our country in this election. So what better way to channel our own inner-RGIII than to take our best, brightest and hardest working Victory volunteers to see them in action?

That is right, our Victory MVPs from each region of the Commonwealth will win tickets to see the Redskins on October 14th! Hey – sometimes you just gotta cut through all the political noise…

We all know what is at stake in this election: our religious freedom, our economic prosperity and the future of the greatest nation in the history of the world. Virginia is the #1 battleground state in the country, and everyone knows that the road to the White House runs through Virginia. Throughout our country’s history, during times of peril, the country has looked to Virginians for leadership. It is our turn once again to lead our country back home.

While I don’t think our side needs any extra motivation, it’s nice to be recognized and thanked for all of your hard work and dedication.

That is why I’m pleased to announce that on October 6th, our final Super Saturday, we are holding The Victory Chairman’s Awards contest to award our top volunteer in every Victory Center, identify our most dedicated and hard working volunteers in every region, and crown our #1 Victory Volunteer in the ENTIRE Commonwealth!

Chairman’s Award winners in each Victory Center will be honored in a special ceremony in October, and the top TWO volunteers in each region (Northern Virginia, Central Virginia, Hampton-Roads and Western Virginia) will win tickets to see rookie phenom QB RGIII and the Washington Redskins take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, October 14th at FedEx Field!

But that’s not all – the overall state-wide winner of the Victory Chairman’s Awards will win a ticket to see the Redskins and will receive a pre-game sideline pass to the game!

We are simply too energized, and ready to make some lasting change for our country. I’m honored to be here with grassroots leaders from all over the Commonwealth that you elected to represent our Virginia values and principles, and we are all participating in a truly historic Republican Convention this year.

Why? Well, because its been nearly 236 years since Virginia’s voice has mattered as much in determining the future direction of nation, and there has never been a time when Republicans in Virginia were more ready to make a difference and lead for the sake of our Republic.

You’ve heard it a thousand times, but it is no less true: 1) This is the most important election of our lifetimes, AND, 2) Virginia, as the number one battleground in the country this year,can and will determine the future path of our nation.

Over the past nine months, we’ve been feverishly building the largest grassroots army in the history of Virginia – from the bottom up, not the top down. Thanks to the hard work and herculean efforts of grassroots leaders like you, we have more than TRIPLED the size of the great Grassroots Army that swept our Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General into office in 2009 – and it’s NOT EVEN LABOR DAY YET!

We still have a lot of work to do until November 6th, but I firmly believe, thanks to you, we are heading in the right direction. I wish every single one of what I call our Grassroots Heros could join the Virginia Delegation in Tampa to feel the energy on the ground, listen to the speakers, hear our great Governor Bob McDonnell address the convention on Tuesday night, and watch as America’s Comeback Team: Governor Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan accept our party’s nomination. But, many of you, selflessly volunteered to stay home to tend to the hard work on the ground as we continue to organize precinct by precinct. Many others, given family obligations and in some cases, given this dreadful Obama economy, simply could not make the trip due South to be here.

Wait a minute — it’s 2012 and if I learned anything as a technology entrepreneur (and yes, I DID BUILD IT!), I’m sure we can find a way to be together for this historic event – if y’all can’t be down here with us, we are gonna do everything we can to BRING THE CONVENTION STRAIGHT HOME TO YOU!!

That’s right, we want to Bring the Convention Home to the Commonwealth and that is why for the TWO biggest nights of the RNC Convention – Tuesday night when our nation’s Governors led by our very own Gov. Bob McDonnell share the spotlight, and Thursday night when our party will nominate Governor Mitt Romney to be our next President of the United States, we are going to host two “Convention to the Commonwealth” Victory Parties that you can attend from the comfort of your own home in Virginia!

Tonight at 8:30 PM, we will be hosting the first of two “Convention to the Commonwealth” Victory Parties (tele-Town Hall-style), live from the Convention floor. We will be joined by Governor Bob McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, among many others. We will bring you updates from Tampa, and talk about the day’s events, answer any questions that you may have and give you a behind the scenes look at what is happening down here at the 40th RNC Convention.

Together, we can lead our party, our Commonwealth and our nation on a new path. Together, we can and we will win in November!

We’ve already found a goldmine of volunteers, donors, and dedicated activists, who are all united in their commitment to making Barack Obama a one term president. We’re here wearing our red shirts, signing up people at our table, and making our presence felt among the delegates. A great, unifying event to get us ready for November.

Absent is the familiar mantra of “hope” and “change.” It seems that sentiment has been replaced by “divide” and “conquer.” When you can’t run on your own record, I suppose that is your only real hope at being re-elected.

America, though, isn’t buying it. Try as he might, Barack Obama cannot dismiss the ghost of James Carville: It is still the economy, stupid. Every time the president has tried to distract us by changing the subject from that, it has ended up backfiring on him.

After Obama accused the Republican Party of waging a so-called war on women, a recent CBS News/New York Times poll showed that his presumptive rival, Mitt Romney, is actually leading among women.

After he launched a sustained and cynical attack on free enterprise, high-profile leaders in the president’s own party rebuked him. Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a rising star in Democratic politics, for instance, flat out said such attacks are “nauseating to the American public.”

And after he has spent his entire term giving special favors to phony clean-energy boondoggles, while simultaneously attacking energy producers, President Obama has found that Democratic voters in energy-producing states want nothing to do with him. In West Virginia, for instance, the sitting president couldn’t even get 60 percent of the vote among his own party, losing more than 40 percent of the vote in a primary to a convict who resides in a Texas prison. Ouch.

We shouldn’t be surprised. This is, after all, the president who promised us that if we passed his stimulus bill, unemployment would not eclipse 8 percent. We have now gone roughly 40 consecutive months with unemployment over 8 percent.

This is, after all, the president who turned his back on the very people who put him in office. College students, for instance, many of whom bought into the optimistic, post-partisan message of hope and change that candidate Obama was selling four years ago, are graduating this year. But for so many of the Class of 2012, there are simply no jobs to be had. Worse, for many graduates, commencement marks not the start of a new exotic adventure but rather moving back in with Mom and Dad!

Young people are hardly the only ones struggling to get by in the Obama economy. Of the hundreds of thousands of jobs that have been lost since Barack Obama took office, women have suffered a disproportionate share. Unemployment among African-Americans is a full 5 percentage points higher than the national average.

Obama’s policies have prevented businesses from growing, thriving and creating jobs. Worse, he has no interest in changing course, and no plan to fix things. No wonder he wants to talk about something, anything, else. If this election is about the economy, he will lose.

I have been very fortunate in life. I am an entrepreneur. I started a company out of my one-bedroom apartment 13 years ago, and at the time I had less than $100 in my bank account. My sister actually had to wire me money to buy groceries.

But through a ton of hard work, some amazing people around me and the grace of God, I was able to build a company, which became the world’s first social media marketing agency. Such a story was possible only because this country allowed its people to dream big, and succeed or fail on the merits of their ideas and the strength of their work ethic.

The Obama administration has spent nearly four years pursuing policies that make job creators like me public enemy No. 1. As the economy continues to struggle, I worry every day that the Class of 2012 and those that come after will no longer have the same opportunities that I did.

Over the next few months, this president will use every tool at his disposal to make this election about anything but the economy. The politics of hope and change will continue to twist into the politics of hype and blame.

This is an election about the economy, and a fair contest fought on those terms makes Obama’s path to re-election impossible. Don’t let the president distract you; come November, show him what it feels like to be unemployed.
